Gugena è una frazione del Comune di San Godenzo (fi). Posta in una piccola vallata a quota di circa 600 m. s.l.m..Circondata da una cresta di contrafforti dell’alpe di San Godenzo e dal monte Campaccio1100m.s.l.m.
In mezzo alla piccola vallata scorre un torrente, il Rimaggio, che ha una portata di acqua perenne.La lunghezza dell torrente è di circa tre km; nasce in località Fragossa e si immette nel fiume Godenzo, vicino al molino di S.Bavello Questo piccolo fiume, che porta sempre acqua, è sicuramente la ragione dell’esistenza e della vita di Gugena.
A Gugena ci si arriva attraversando il ponte alla Massa,in S. Bavello,S.S. 67 km. 123 circa e percorrendo la strada vicinale di Gugena di 2800 m.
La vallata è ridente, coperta di verde, quercio, castagno, frassino e faggio, che insieme al sottobosco sono gli elementi naturali che rivestono il suolo di Gugena. L’area geografica di Gugena è di circa 10 km.q.
Vecchi boschi di quercia e di castagno e appezzamenti di terreno da semina sono la cornice naturale di case antiche, dimora un tempo di carbonai e tagliatori di legna e di contadini che qui vivevano. Alcuni cognomi e casate del luogo risalgono ad oltre mille anni di dimora in questo piccolo angolo della terra. Reperti archeologici esposti nel museo archeologico del comune di Dicomano, testimoniano una presenza etrusca in questa vallata.
La zona di Gugena permette di godere un panorama ampio e gradevole, si può ammirare l’appennino tosco-romagnolo, il passo del Muraglione, il colle della fiera dei Poggi, il monte Peschiena e via via fino al monte Senario. Dalla strada, che da Gugena va verso Tizzano si vede S.Bavello con la Pieve millenaria, il monte di S. Lucia, sede una volta del castello dei Conti Guidi.
Gugena confina ad ovest con il comune di Dicomano ed il comune di Londa. Gli altri confini sono nel territorio di S.Godenzo.
I casolari ed i borghi di Gugena sono: Querceto – Trebbiale – Bruzzame – la Casa del Vento, posti a destra del Rimaggio; a sinistra del Rimaggio: Astieto – Borgo – La Porta – Casalpace – le Case Disotto – Le Fonti – Stabbio – Il Poggiolo – Campana – Le Pancole
Il popolo di Gugena , intorno agli anni 40/50, era rappresentato da una ventina di famiglie: i Magherini, gli Annibali, i Rossi, i Nannini, i Parronchi, i Buccioni, i Nardoni, iMecheri, i Borghini, gli Innocenti, i Dini, i Gherardelli , iForni, i Drani, i Foconi, i Bini, tutte insieme queste famiglie costituivano una comunità di circa cento anime
La storia non ci rammenta personalità di spicco, salvo un certo Borghini, che si dice maestro di un certo, certissimo genio: “GALILEO GALILEI”.
La tradizione ci tramanda una storia importante per la comunità di Gugena. La storia della MADONNA DELLA NEVE. Esiste in Gugena un ORATORIO DELLA MADONNA DELLA NEVE, edificato molti anni addietro. Il cinque di Agosto di ogni anno, si celebra, in Gugena la festa della MADONNA DELLA NEVE.

Gugena is a village in the municipality of San Godenzo (fi). Set in a small valley at an altitude of about 600 m. it is surrounded by a ridge of mountain foothills part of San Godenzo and Mount Campaccio, (1100m.)
In the middle of the small valley flows a stream, the Rimaggio, which has a range of eternal water. The length of the stream is about three kilometres; This small river, born near the village flows into the river Fragossa Godenzo, near the water mill of S.Bavello , and is definitely the reason for the existence and life of Gugena.You can get to Gugena by crossing the bridge at the “Massa”, in S. Archaeological finds on display in the archaeological museum of the town of Dicomano, document also the Etruscan presence in this valley. The area of Gugena allows you to enjoy the Apennines Tuscan-Romagna, the “Passo” of the Muraglione, the hill of the fair of Poggi, Mount Peschiena and so on, up to Mount Senario. From the road, which goes towards Gugena Tizzano S.Bavello can be seen with millenarian Pieve, Mount St. Lucia, once home to the castle of the Guidi Counts. Gugena is bordered to the west by the town of Dicomano and the town of Londa. The other boundaries are in the territory of S.Godenzo. The barns and villages of Gugena are: Querceto - Trebbiale - Bruzzame - the House of the Wind, placed to the right of Rimaggio; left the Rimaggio: Astieto - Borgo - The Gate - Casalpace - - Le Fonti - Stabbio - The Poggiolo - Bell - The Pancole. During the 40s-50s there were about 20 families living there: the Magherini, the Annibali, the Rossi, the Nannini, the Parronchi, the Buccioni, the Nardoni, the Mecheri, the Borghini, the Innocenti, the Dini, the Gherardelli, the Forni, the Drani, the Foconi, the Bini, all together these families formed a community of about a hundred souls. Another tradition also tells us an important story for the community of Gugena: The history of “OUR LADY OF the SNOW”. In Gugena exists an ORATORY OF OUR LADY OF the SNOW, built many years ago. Each year, on August 5, the MADONNA OF SNOW festivity is celebrated in Gugena.
